QUETTA—Police have arrested two individuals in Quetta accused of killing local journalist Abdul Wahid Raisani (pictured), the home minister said while answering a question during the provincial assembly session.
Mir Ziaullah Langove, in his statement on the assembly floor, hinted that one culprit had fled to a neighboring country. He did name the country.
The assembly members thought the Raisani's murder in Ramadan was the 'murder of truth.' The journalist was a sub-editor for Daily Azadi for three years. He was shot and killed during a robbery bid in the Bank Colony area of Quetta on April 24, 2021.
According to the local police, he was going home from work when robbers tried to snatch his motorcycle near Qambrani Road. During the ensuing struggle, the robbers fired shots, one of which pierced Raisani's chest.
Rescue teams rushed Raisani to the hospital after the assault, but he succumbed to his wounds. The Balochistan Union of Journalists had condemned the killing and demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
